I became a doula because I want to support women on one of the most important days of their lives. Like any other day, the day you give birth should be a day where you’re treated with kindness and compassion, a day where you feel respected and heard, no matter what “type” of birth you choose (or end up with), medicated or unmedicated, hospital or home, doctor or midwife.
This post by Cristen on Improving Birth is one of the most eloquent things I’ve read on why wanting a certain birth experience is not selfish and should not be discounted. Read it!!
