Transforming Maternity Care has an amazing online database of statistics, numbers, and graphs pertaining to pregnancy, birth and maternity care in the US. I poked around a little bit over there this morning; it’s so interesting to see this kind of information collected in one place.  As someone born and raised in the state of Maryland, I was particularly fascinated by the 2011 stats about babies born in Maryland hospitals. Check it out:

You can also see specific information on individual hospitals in the state, including how many C-sections each hospital performed, how many vaginal births occurred there, etc. Not every state has such detailed information, but it’s worth a look, for sure.
